Very proud of our team at Phoenix Martial Arts in Croydon as we have been named by adidas as the Super League Kickboxing Team of the Year 2023. Everyone has fought hard all year in training and competitions to become the gold standard in Super League Kickboxing by having collectively achieved incredible results together.
Adversity calls forth the souls’ courage to bear unflinchingly whatever heaven sends.
This is not just a team, we are a family in a community with an amazing collective mental strength to push through every challenge regardless of circumstances or how long it takes, knowing that adversity is always the advantage when positively directed, and that we all win and learn together.
We may lose a few battles, however we always win the war!
I learned a lot in my first year of national and international competition which has yielded truly remarkable changes to my beliefs, behaviours and attitudes toward everything I do.
While a personal Gold medal this year has eluded me following two previous silver medals, I make no excuses, I simply have not yet found the performance I need to take that next step on my journey to becoming the Super League World Champion before I am 50 years old. I am however incredibly honoured to have made a contribution to the winning efforts of our amazing team, adding points to our tally and winning medals at an international standard in my inaugural year of competing in the Super League.
This whole experience gives me a feeling of being incredibly grateful and liberated by the opportunity to take everything learned this year into delivering a winning strategy in 2024, not just in kickboxing as this is about everything in life, family, business, health, self, team and community, raising standards and living to deliver winning performances, continually adjusting the process to attack and adapt.
This coming year will be a powerful journey further down the road of positive transformational change, moving from being a contributing member of the winning team with a few silver medals, to supporting our kickboxing family with gold next year becoming a contender for individual titles as we all move up and forward together in 2024.
Never to be satisfied simply polishing trophies of yesterday, we will all now 240X our own Opportunity Mindsets with Hope, Belief and Gratitude knowing that Winning against all the odds is a fire walk through the mind and a process that takes time.
Personally I feel energised and even more focused now than ever before on demonstrating the 240X principles in all areas of my life, self, health, family, team, communities and countries, while adding another big team win in 2023 and taking further steps toward becoming the Super League World Kickboxing Champion before my 50th Birthday. 3 more powerful years of continuous improvement ahead is a good start to finding the desired results.
I am 47 years old and I am very encouraged to be holding my own against the young 20 and 30 year old heavy weights and I am grateful they are offering me the resistance I need to achieve my goals, starting with that first Gold medal in 2024.
So today it's about being grateful for the lessons in 2023 and relentlessly getting back to it every day, continuing forward remembering there is a huge value to who you become on the journey, not just in seeing the results.
As we move relentlessly forward into 2024 all my thanks go to my personal trainer World Champion Joe Brooks, and his family who are incredible role models and all champions in their own right, champions who also run Phoenix Martial Arts.
This is a family focused on demonstrating that they will never be satisfied simply polishing trophies of yesterday, helping the team understand that winning is a process of fighting, thriving, and not simply surviving amid life's storms, in whatever form they take in every arena of life.
I feel honoured to be part of such a wonderful group of all ages who are so committed to their training, to fighting and winning individually and as a team, consistently demonstrating everything the 240X Opportunity Mindset that I hold close to my heart represents.
