Who do you really want to be?

7 years ago, I asked myself this one simple question and the answers that came to me were the powerful catalyst that led me into my own journey of personal positive transformation.

Honestly asking this one simple question is likely the single most powerful way to start every day on any journey of change and transformation.

So, who do you really want to be?

This is not what your family, friends and everyone else might want you to be with all their well-meaning complex set of expectations and agendas. This is all about sitting down in a quiet space and boldly asking the questions they likely have not, starting with these.

Who did I really want to be before I allowed the world to dictate who I now am?

What am I prepared to sacrifice to become the person I know I can be? While all things sound simple they are likely not easy and even finding a starting point can be quite a challenge. The ability to get started lies in the question and deciding who we actually want to be in our heart and soul, then having the faith, determination and grit to make it happen, no matter what the odds, circumstances or obstacles that inevitably come.

While not easy, everything in life worth doing has an element of challenge and difficulty attached, leaning into that idea is a actually a simple process of knowing the price you are prepared to pay (nothing to do with money), then deciding to fully commit, act on that commitment and then pay that price every day on the journey of what you have decided matters.

I believe that everything that we need comes from within us. Greater is the power that is in you than that which is in the world. The power to achieve all things lives each of us. We are the power, the light, and the answer to all our own problems. This is Inner Engineering.

On the journey of creating a meaningful existence aligned to my own decisions of what is important, I have found the process of inner engineering to be incredibly powerful. This is the ability to look deep inside myself on a daily basis and decide what really matters, what's working, what needs work and how do I need to change myself to achieve the results I want. Ultimately this is far more powerful than expecting it to just be given, or anyone else doing it for me while living under a self generated spotlight of entitlement.

Ultimately it really doesn't matter what anyone else thinks of your dreams, goals and life aspirations, they are your gifts uniquely given to you. Knowing that gives you a lot of power to send far less time giving a fuck about all the things that you have decided simply don't matter, and the less fucks you give, the happier you are.

One thing I have come to know for sure however is that their is a fine line between kindness and weakness, and finding how to be soft of heart yet hard in my boundaries is incredibly powerful and moreover it is essential. The ability to protect our mental focus and remove all the negative distractions swarming around us for attention, while being thoughtful caring and considerate without allowing people to abuse your brain space, is key to living as our authentic self and absolutely imperative to knowing that we make ourselves become who we want to be on this unique journey life. We get to decide who we want to be, then we fight to become it.

In the on-going life pursuit of what I have decided matters to me, habits and rituals matter, the people I have chosen to be in my life matter, self development matters, family matters, creativity matters, life experiences matter, and a continual journey of positive transformation to be the best version of myself in support of others matters.

One thing that I know for sure above all else, the word "No" is a superpower when confronted daily with a magnitude of stimulus that just does not matter.

Something to keep in mind here to finish, a little story about pushing the boundaries.

When motorcars were first around and one person believed they could exceed 30mph, it was at the time the committed belief of "experts" that the human body was not capable of exceeding speeds of 30mph and would in fact explode. Fact. And yet so far being a fact we can now all smugly grown at how ridiculous this may sound.

Nobody can know what it is they do not know until somebody else does it. History has always been made by those people everyone else calls weird, until that weird produces a 4 minute mile, a car that goes 200mph, a spaceship, a man on the moon and a multitude of everything else that has progressed humanity from caves into space exploration. Maybe your special type of weird will give us all a better way of living and a chance to change humanity.

So today and every day, be weird, be different, celebrate uniqueness and Be Relentless Being YOU in everything you think, feel and do on your journey through life!
